WHICH JESUS IS THE RIGHT JESUS?
The apostle Paul warned that even while the apostles of Christ were still living some were trying to present a DIFFERENT JESUS than the true Jesus they were serving and presenting to the world. Listen to his warning to the Corinthian church:
2 Cor. 11:2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. 3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.
Then what? If you follow a false Jesus will you end up in Heaven? No, my friend, that is the point, a false Jesus comes with the promise of a Heaven he cannot give; because he is an invention of evil or ignorant men who are motivated by an agenda other than God's. Some may even be sincere; but sincerely wrong. Similar warnings in Scripture prove "bad men don't just say obviously bad things"; but rather Satan's deceptions are usually subtle adjustments to God's truth which DO affect the salvation of the adherents. There is an evil agenda to deceive people and lead them down a path of destruction. These deceivers all strive to appear as the true messengers of God and all present a Jesus; but it is our responsibility to make sure we are being presented the right Jesus - the one that the apostles preached. Listen to the warnings of Scripture:
Mt 15:14 ...if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.
Ro 16:18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
2 Cor. 11:13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. 14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
I Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
2 Peter 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. 2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. 3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you:
I John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
After 2000 years of Satan's labors in the field of deception, corruption, and perversion of the truth, is it any wonder that there is confusion as to the true Jesus, the true Gospel, and the true Spirit of God? Listen to Paul's warning to a group of church elders from Ephesus:
Acts 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. 29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. 30 Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. 31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears. 32 And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.
Is this a serious matter? Paul obviously thought so. Can we afford to ignore the urgency in Paul's warning? This can only mean that YOUR CONCEPT OF JESUS today from the teaching you've received is either a product of the apostles or the grievous wolves or a combination of the two. Obviously Christendom is splintered into thousands of sects and factions; so who do you trust? For 2000 years the enemies of truth have been laboring to draw away disciples after them; and it is very possible that some of your beliefs are tainted by their false teachings. Therefore to ask yourself, "Am I sure I have the right Jesus?" is a wise and important question. NEVER ASSUME; but study and search it out in the Bible.
The Jesus of the Bible had a specific message and manner related to us in the apostle's writings; when this is changed due to a personal bias or agenda, then a different Jesus is being presented. I was raised in mainline denominational Christianity; but as a Baptist pastor I realized this sobering truth and began to research the historic Jesus along with historic first century Christianity. Wow, what an awakening I experienced. I was stunned and shaken to see how I had been presented a Jesus which was not an accurate presentation of the historic Jesus of Nazareth. What I had assumed was true Bible teaching, was heavily tainted with errors that even the apostles had written against.
The only way to properly define the right Jesus, believe in the right Jesus, and then properly represent Him to the world is to first listen closely to what the Bible actually says about Him and His teachings; and then present this impartial presentation to the world. If you change the message or manner of the Jesus of Scripture, then you are presenting “another Jesus” and will surely face the wrath of God if you do not repent when you are shown and know better. Jesus is the author of the entire Bible through His Holy Spirit, and when you know the right Jesus, the entire Bible will be understood as a consistent revelation - never contradicting itself. Would the following accolade given to Jesus by God fit your concept of Jesus? Does your "Jesus" hate the transgression of God's Law?
"Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows." Hebrews 1:9
I’ve discussed this issue with enough people over the years to know that the problem is NOT the lack of information or the inadequacy of the Bible to inform us; but the unwillingness of people to acknowledge the information available. Why? Because I’ve found people have other reasons for living than just finding and following the right Jesus. If following the right Jesus interferes with their lifestyle, income, security, or preferences, then they will be content with the Jesus they have and prefer, whether he be the right one or not. This is the very struggle you will have if you find you have the wrong one or at least wrong concepts about Him. Are you willing to allow the “Truth Train” to take you wherever it is going, or will you look to see where it is going before getting on so you can decide if you like the destination or not? Unless you are willing to follow the truth wherever it goes, you really don’t love truth; but are rather in love with your lifestyle, comforts, preferences, etc. more than truth. The problem is NOT that the right Jesus cannot be found and followed; the problem is in man’s lack of desire to know and follow truth. God will only open the eyes of those who really wish to see. Jesus faced this same dilemma when preaching to people in His day. Listen to His words:
Mt 13:15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
Since that eye opening experience in my life I have studied to find the truth about the historic Jesus of Nazareth, the Messiah of the Jews, and the Savior of the world. I promised God I would be willing to follow the truth wherever it led me. Are you willing to make that promise? Will you promise God that you will seek for truth only without being prejudiced by your own preferences? We will gladly discuss the issues thoroughly with you from the Scriptures. Remember God's will is always the smartest, best, and most appropriate thing you can do anyways - so there is no need to fear God's program. We always reap what we sow, and when you live God's way, you reap great blessings.
Our church is striving to not only understand who Jesus really was and what He actually taught; but as faithful disciples, we are striving to properly represent His teachings to the world in our lives, in our families, in our congregation, and through our Bible studies and sermons. We have a church website with extensive articles and audio messages for the sincere seeker and lover of truth. We are glad to correspond and discuss the issues since much misinformation is being spread to confuse the facts. We give out the challenge that if you can fine-tune our presentation of the Biblical Jesus by showing us more truth, then we will gladly altar our doctrine or practice; but you must also be willing to be corrected if by chance you are the one who is mistaken; and must be willing to change your doctrine and practice. PRESENTING THE RIGHT JESUS TO THE WORLD AS WELL AS TO OUR CHILDREN IS OUR LIFE WORK AND GOAL.
IS PROPERLY REPRESENTING THE BIBLICAL JESUS MORE IMPORTANT TO YOU THAN THE FRINGE BENEFITS OF YOUR “ISM”, DENOMINATION, COMFORT ZONE, FAMILY TIES, STATUS, POSITION OR POSSESSIONS?
IF SO, THEN PLEASE PROCEED:
Every "unbeliever" believed something else
When "love waxed cold", it was hot toward something else
Every Infidel was faithful to something else
To Believe, Love, and be found Faithful one must have the proper object; for these only have virtue when in proper relation to the Right Jesus
